La Grande Maison is in the village of Lapradelle Puilaurens, traversed by the river Boulzane. Access to the apartment is by steps through a terrace rock garden which has a barbecue area with a lovely view of the ancient Chateau de Puilaurens. The apartment looks out on to mountains and forest |
 |
| Lapradelle Puilauren lies approx. 35 miles West of Perpignan on the D117 - an hour away from the Mediterranean by car - but far enough into the mountains to be cooler than the coast in the summer, and only an hour's drive from ski slopes , in the winter sport's season. The village can be approached either up the valley from Perpignan or from Carcassonne and the west via a spectacular river gorge, south of Quillan. (featured in the Tour de France)
In the apartment there is a spacious lounge with dining area and breakfast bar. One double and one twin bedroom plus a bathroom complete the comfortable uncluttered accommodation.
There is a wide range of birds, butterflies and other wildlife to be observed throughout the year. The scenery is spectacular and there are many beautiful walks and drives in the local area.
Lapradelle is a working village and a minor crossroads for local commerce. Local amenities include a restaurant, a bar, a mini market for groceries a bread shop ( for your morning croissants) and a Post Office. There is also a Brocanterie which does drinks and ice creams.
The Mediterranean is an hour's drive away with wide sandy beaches. If you prefer little coves or picturesque coastal towns the area between Collioure and Banyuls, where the Pyrenees drop to the sea , is recommended.
Swimming is available in the sea, mountain lakes and a plunge pool in the Boulzane. The local rivers offer white water rafting, canoeing and fishing. |
